Moments with the Groundskeepers

As the faithful readers of my blog know, my uncle has a finca, farm, in Villa de Leyva. It is a place that we just go to on the weekends, they probably go once every 15 days or so. I don't really know where that number comes from, but they say it a lot, "We will come back in 15 days". So, while they are not there, someone needs to be around to take care of the place. Gloria and her husband live there, and take care of things. Their

granddaughter Paula spends a lot of time there as well.

And while I am posting this, I might as well also post a picture of the groundskeepers at the Finca in Sopo. This is the Finca that has been in my family for years and years, and now belongs to Martha.

This is Marcos and Susana. Sopo is only about 45 min from Bogota, whereas Villa de Leyva is a 3 hour drive in good conditions. So, the family goes to Sopo a lot more often. At least 2 times a month, if not more.

It is very nice to have people you trust to look after the Finca's while no one is there. This last weekend there was a robbery in Sopo at one of the neighbors. And then, while in Villa de Leyva my cousin who lives just down the road from my uncle's finca was robbed while they were out. While these places are safe for the most part, these things still happen! So, it's fortunate that they have people to look after the places while they are not there.
